About the Project

The Digital Shikshak project aimed to improve digital literacy among 32 teachers in Chhayanath Rara Municipality, Mugu, through a three-day ICT workshop covering computer basics, Microsoft Office, internet use, and online safety. The project also created a handbook and online resources in Nepali for nationwide access. Over 70% of participants showed improved skills, and the initiative, supported by local government, plans to expand and replicate in underserved areas.

Our Digital शिक्षक journey aimed to empower educators in rural Nepal with digital literacy, bridging the gap between technology and teaching. We designed a practical training program for teachers in Gamgadhi, Mugu, despite facing challenges like difficult travel, Mugu’s cold climate, and frequent internet disruptions. The lack of formal billing systems also posed financial hurdles, but our team adapted creatively. The 32 participating teachers, despite limited access to technology, were incredibly eager to learn and explore digital tools for their classrooms. This experience taught us that community engagement is about listening, empathizing, and growing together, not just delivering knowledge. It was meaningful because it aligned our technical expertise with a purpose beyond personal achievement. The project reinforced the power of grassroots action, youth leadership, and the lasting impact of education. The journey not only strengthened our team but also deepened our commitment to creating change where it’s needed most..
