Project Aama

About the Project

Project Aama is a people-centered maternal health initiative addressing preventable maternal deaths in Nepal, particularly those caused by postpartum hemorrhage during and after childbirth. Focusing on rural areas such as Banke in Lumbini Province, the project strengthens emergency preparedness by training 20–25 frontline healthcare workers through an intensive 4-day program combining hands-on simulations, emergency drills, and virtual expert-led sessions. Co-developed by OB/GYN specialists and pediatricians from Nepal and the United States, Project Aama integrates global expertise with local realities, supported by an illustrated handbook and a digital learning platform for continued mentorship, working toward a future where no woman dies giving life due to lack of skilled care.
