Genvotes
About the Project
Project Genvotes aimed to increase youth engagement in Nepal’s democracy through civic education and simulated elections. In partnership with Milestone International SS/College, we trained over 440 students on voter education and election roles. At Motherland Secondary School, students participated in a mock election, supported by the District Election Commission, to deepen their understanding of democratic processes.
Overall CEP Experience
School Students (specifically youths aged 15-19 ) Youth Leaders (including the Student Council Body) Teachers (who were trained to support and sustain the project)
Project Genvotes began with the aim of making democracy more tangible for young people. Partnering with Milestone International SS/College provided a solid foundation, but we faced challenges like coordinating schedules and managing limited resources. Despite these hurdles, our team adapted, learned to trust each other, and remained focused on our mission. The most rewarding part of this journey was witnessing the enthusiasm of students, especially young girls and marginalized youth, stepping into leadership roles. Many expressed that it was their first time experiencing the electoral process, and the mock election brought civic education to life. This experience reaffirmed the value of youth-led initiatives and highlighted the importance of empowering young people to be active citizens.CEP Team
